Prague Centre for Global Health

This department was established with a vision to provide students, young doctors and researchers in medicine, an Interdisciplinary Global Health Research Collaborative, embedded in the idea to challenge and bring about new evidenced-based solutions to new global health problems.

01

What is our mission statement?

Global health is the cross-pollination of academic research and practical disciplines. It engenders innovation, new ideas and  growth. We aim to provide access to the resources needed to achieve the aforementioned so that students and doctors alike can keep ahead of the challenges and threats to human health.

02

How do we aim to achieve our task?

Like Vishnu, lord of health and positivity, there a four key arms to our initiative:

a) Global health research: interdisciplinary research between departments, field research and clinical practice and review. Main outcomes: publishing papers, policy reports, working documents, offering standards and best practice guidelines in clinical practice and global health policy.

2) Clinical Field Practicals: foreign medical work with research components and clinical skills for students, academics and researchers. This aspect will focus on tropical and infectious disease, as well as, preventative medicine, vaccines and the developing world.

3) Global Health Seminar/courses: two seminar courses, across disciplines and involving all departments (eligible elective coursework for those interested in global health work or for information). These courses will be for credit and will have an online and didactic/classroom component.

4) Policy Research and discussion: hosting bienniel multidisciplinary discussion in an apolitical, non- profit, non-partisan environment- ie. The Global Health Forum -

followed by review, drafting of global health policy, finance, practices, law, aid programming, poverty reduction, food security, and health security to analyze public health policy globally
